The Vice President of Cloud Platform will lead the well-established Cloud Platform department into its next chapter—scaling a modern, resilient, and developer-friendly platform to support a growing portfolio of applications.
Tactical goals include building out new services, engineering modern capabilities, and enabling our business to innovate at speed. Reporting to the SVP of Technology, the VP will set the strategy, lead a high-performing team, and ensure that Azure remains a secure, compliant, and scalable foundation for the bank’s digital transformation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership
- Shape and execute the Azure cloud platform strategy to support the bank’s long-term technology and business goals.
- Position the platform as a strategic enabler, not just infrastructure, ensuring it accelerates delivery of new products and services.
- Partner with senior stakeholders to align cloud investments with enterprise priorities.
Platform Development & Growth
- Scale beyond today’s four critical applications to support many more workloads with enterprise-grade reliability.
- Build and expand Internal Developer Platform (IDP) capabilities that give application teams secure, self-service access to cloud resources.
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices including automation, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and resilience engineering.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Implement and enforce robust governance frameworks for security, identity, data, and cost management.
- Ensure compliance with banking and regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI-DSS, FFIEC, SOC 2).
- Partner with Security and Risk teams to establish guardrails, policy enforcement, and operational resilience.
Operational Excellence
- Define and measure SLAs, SLOs, and KPIs for platform availability, reliability, and performance.
- Oversee observability, monitoring, incident management, and disaster recovery.
- Ensure the platform meets the bank’s high standards for resilience and business continuity.
Financial & Vendor Management
- Own the Azure financial model, including cost forecasting, optimization, and chargeback/showback mechanisms.
- Manage the bank’s strategic relationship with Microsoft and other key vendors.
Team Leadership
- Lead and expand a high-performing Cloud Platform team of engineers, architects, and operations specialists.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and mentor talent, ensuring strong succession and growth opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 12+ years of enterprise IT leadership, with deep expertise in Azure architecture and operations.
- Proven success leading large-scale or greenfield platform buildouts in highly regulated industries (financial services strongly preferred).
- Strong knowledge of cloud security, compliance, and governance frameworks for banking.
- Demonstrated expertise in platform engineering disciplines: DevOps, IaC, CI/CD, observability, resilience engineering.
- Executive presence with ability to engage regulators, boards, and C-suite stakeholders.
- Strong track record of building, scaling, and leading cross-functional, high-performance teams.
